Prince Branciforte Barresi was a Sicilian arts patron and benefactor from the late 16th to early 17th centuries. He was the Prince of Pietraperzia and Marchese of Militello.
He married Juana of Austria in 1603 and had either three or five daughters (historical records vary). His eldest daughter survived to adulthood and had one son who died as a young child.
His mtDNA profile was determined by DNA testing of his skeletal remains from the chapel of San Benedetto church of Militello di Catania (Sicily).
