Queen of the United Kingdom from the 20th June 1837 until her death on the 22nd January 1901. Also the Empress of India from the 1st May 1876 until her death.
Her father (Prince Edward) was the fourth son of King George III, but his older brothers did not leave any surviving legitimate children. Victoria became Queen at 18 years of age at the death of her uncle William IV. Her reign lasted 63 years and seven months and is known as the Victorian Era.
Her mtDNA profile was determined during the genetic analysis of the remains of the Romanov family. Queen Victoria is the maternal grandmother of Tsarina Alexandra and the maternal great-great-grandmother of Prince Philip; hence she shares the same mtDNA profile as these two individuals and all her other maternal descendants.
