King of France from 1643 to 1715. Known as Louis XIV, the Sun King. He became King at four years old and his official reign lasted 72 years and 110 days (the longest of any monarch of a major country in European history). While Louis XIV was a minor, his mother acted as sole regent, despite King Louis III’s request to have a regency council rule on his son’s behalf.
Son of King Louis III and Anne of Austria. He married Maria Theresa of Spain with whom he had six children, but only one (Louis, Grand Dauphin) who survived to adulthood. He also had several illegitimate children with multiple different mistresses and many of these children were later legitimized and gained royal titles.
Y-DNA STR profile was determined by DNA testing of three paternal descendants of his father King Louis III.
