Tsesarevich and heir apparent to the throne of the Russian Empire. Imprisoned and executed during the Russian Revolution in 1918.

Youngest child and only son of the last Emperor (Tsar Nicholas II) and Empress (Tsarina Alexandra) of Russia. Great-grandson (maternal line) of Queen Victoria.

His mtDNA HVR1 and HVR2 profile was derived from DNA testing of his remains and compared to the profile obtained from his mother’s remains and from Prince Philip, another maternal descendant of Queen Victoria.

His Y-DNA profile was also derived from DNA testing of his remains and the remains of his father, Tsar Nicholas II.
