Alexandra Feodorovna

Also known as Empress Alexandra or Tsarina Alexandra through her marriage to Tsar Nicholas II, the last Emperor of the Russian Empire. Alexandra was born as Alix of Hesse and by Rhine, and became Alexandra Feodorovna when she was received into the Russian Orthodox Church. Imprisoned and executed during the Russian Revolution in 1918.

Daughter of Louis IV (Grand Duke of Hesse and by Rhine) and Princess Alice of the United Kingdom. Granddaughter (maternal side) of Queen Victoria. Mother of Olga, Tatiana, Maria, Anastasia and Alexei.

Her mtDNA HVR1 and HVR2 profile was derived from DNA testing of her remains, and compared to Prince Philip, another maternal descendant of Queen Victoria.
