Ötzi the Iceman

Ötzi the Iceman is the nickname given to the mummy discovered in a glacier near the Austro-Italian border. This man died at approximately 46 years old, likely due to an arrow wound and mace blow to the face.

Ötzi lived sometime in the Late Neolithic or Copper Age (5350-5100 years ago).

DNA testing of his mummified remains determined his mtDNA profile and subclade (a branch of K1) and his Y-DNA subclade (G2a2b).
