Nicolaus Copernicus

Renowned mathematician and astronomer from the Renaissance period.

Published the book “De revolutionibus orbium coelestium” (On the Revolutions of the Celestial Spheres) just before his death in 1543. This book formulated the model for the universe, placing the Sun rather than the Earth at its center. Copernicus also derived a quantity theory of money and formulated the Gresham’s law.
