Louis XIII, King of France

King of France from 1610 to 1643. Known as Louis XIII, the Just. He became King shortly before his ninth birthday after the assassination of his father, King Henry XIV. While Louis XIII was a minor, his mother acted as regent, but poor management of the kingdom occurred and Louis XIII took over power in 1917 by exiling his mother and executing her followers.

Son of King Henry IV and Marie de’ Medici. He married Anne of Austria with whom he had two children who survived to adulthood – his successor, Louis XIV of France and Philippe I, Duke of Orléans.
