Louis XVI, King of France

King of France from 1774 to 1792. Known as Louis Capet. He was deposed from the throne in 1792 and guillotined on 21st January 1793.

Son of Louis, Dauphin of France and Maria Josepha of Saxony. He married the famous Marie Antoinette (daughter of the Holy Roman Emperor and Empress), with whom he had four children. His son and heir, Louis XVII, died while in captivity and only one child (Marie-Thérèse-Charlotte) survived through the French Revolution and to adulthood.

Y-DNA STR profile was determined by DNA testing of three paternal descendants of his paternal ancestor King Louis III.
